After months of research, I’m a firm No on the data center. No NDAs, no deals cut in private, the future of our county belongs on the ballot, decided by the people who live here.
Growth
Stop high-density housing
Calvert wasn’t built for people to live on top of each other. Big apartment complexes strain our roads, schools, and water and erase the rural character that makes this home. Growth should strengthen our communities, not overcrowd them.
Transparency
No closed-door deals
Government should never negotiate the future of our county behind closed doors. No more NDAs and private meetings, residents deserve to be in the room before the decisions get made.
Taxes & Spending
Lower taxes, smarter budgets
Stop the boondoggles, like a county building $30 million over budget. Cut the waste, hold the line on taxes, and put the savings into upgraded fire equipment and turf fields for all four high schools.
Permitting
Stop the endless permitting nightmares
Homeowners and Small businesses often wait years and spend hundreds of thousands just to get a yes. Privatize site-plan review, privatize inspections and stop requiring engineered permits for pools, decks, additions, garages, and let projects that meet the rules move forward. We will bring back Fast Track Wednesday and online permit approvals in hours not months or years.
Local Control
Property rights & our schools
County control of the health department, redevelopment with modern septic, and a real inventory and sale of unused county land. And with taxpayers funding $163M of our schools to the state’s $109M, we demand fair funding and local control.
Calvert County is worth fighting for.
