9 Months Later, Still no Permit to rebuild after house fire

Our Current Commissioners are to blame for this!!!

The Re-zoning of Calvert Cliffs Property

Was it done legally? You be the judge.

30 Million Dollars Over Budget

We, the tax payers were sold on this new building as a way to bring all the county departments under one roof. To be more efficient and a better experience for citizens. The new County Administration building only has enough parking for half the county employees. 50 percent of staff still work from home.

The Commissioners Delayed a Code Change to stop Apartments

When the  Lusby Villas Apartments came to light, the commissioners took a  "proclamation" vote against high density that was not law. It took many months of public pressure from the Republican Central Committee and myself before they actually changed the code.

Leadership before the Election

This will delay the data centers by at least 18 months. Giving time for the People to vote on this topic at the Ballot Box.

Campaign Announcement

Our movement is strong, help us make it STRONGER!!!

Campaign Announcement

3/05/26

Calvert County is worth fighting for.

For more than a decade I’ve been involved in the fight to protect conservative values in Calvert County.

Today… I’m taking that fight one step further.

My name is Jason Scaggs, and I’m officially announcing my candidacy for County Commissioner At-Large.

Many people over the years have encouraged me to run for elected office.
I’ve always been content helping drive discussion through social media, town halls, and by supporting strong candidates.

I was heavily involved in the last two elections, working to help ensure our school board would reflect conservative values for years to come.

But this election is different.

Our county faces complex decisions in the years ahead, and many residents have expressed frustration with the direction of our current leadership.

With important choices ahead for our community… and open candidate positions on the ballot… I decided it was time to step forward and put my name in the ring.

At its core, politics is about the allocation of scarce resources by those given authority by the people.

That authority only works when elected officials truly represent the values of the people who put them there.

We must elect leaders who stand for those values every day of their term… not just during election season.

We need leaders who are bold.
Leaders willing to tackle complex and sometimes controversial issues.

Leaders who stand for what’s right for the people they represent… not for themselves.

What we don’t need… is more of the same.

Right now Calvert County has a board made up entirely of Republicans… yet we’ve seen taxes increase, fees increase, and government continue to expand.

Those are not conservative principles.

I’ve been unapologetically conservative long before MAGA had a hat

Back in 2015 I hung a Trump banner at my business — the flag barn.

Ever since then, both my business and I have become political targets of county government and the state of Maryland.

I’ve been attacked, slandered, and criticized by the far left more times than I can count.

But I refuse to bow down.

I will continue standing for conservative principles… and standing with President Trump… no matter how loudly extremists on the left try to shout us down.

Every day I meet people who thank me for speaking up.
Business owners and residents who feel they can’t speak out themselves.

Carrying that burden can be taxing… but I will continue doing it for my friends and neighbors again and again.

My connection to this county runs deep.

In 1906, my great-grandfather Selby Scaggs purchased the 125-acre Scaggs Farm in Lower Marlboro.

His brother purchased land across Chew Creek that today is known as the Smokey Road recreation area.

Back then, the only access across the creek was a bridge they built themselves.

I attended Sunderland Elementary as part of its very first class… and later graduated from Northern High School.

As a kid, I spent my summers working at Swann Farms on Chaneyville Road… and cutting and hanging tobacco for my grandfather and my Aunt Irene.

Jody and Sambo Swann had a major influence on my life… and Jody continues to offer advice and guidance even today.

I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2001… and soon returned home to Calvert County.

When I came back, I started an excavating and construction business.

As the business grew, I was able to bring my parents on board part-time and help them retire from their regular jobs early.

That remains one of the proudest accomplishments of my life.

Around that time I also rekindled a college romance… and imported my wife Renee Baltimore City.

Together we are raising three amazing kids — Colin, Lily, and Maverick.

We’re an active outdoor family.
From hunting and fishing… to youth sports… especially Northern football.

And we also share a love for hot rods.
Well… Maverick and I definitely do.

Running a business and raising a family keeps me busy… but I believe it’s time for me to do more than just participate in the conversation.

It’s time to serve.

I believe I can do a better job representing the conservative citizens of this county from inside our local government.

We must elect leaders based on intelligence… merit… and conviction.

Leaders who are Republicans and conservatives every day of their four-year term… not just when an election is approaching.

I look forward to representing my friends and neighbors as we take back our local government and restore true conservative values.

Values like smaller government… lower taxes…less regulations and greater freedom for the people of Calvert County.

Our way of life is constantly under attack by Annapolis, Together… we can protect the values that make Calvert County worth fighting for.
