Why I'm running

I grew up on my family’s farm in Lower Marlboro, where my family put down roots back in 1906 and where I learned the value of hard work, personal responsibility, and the rural character that makes Calvert home.

I was in the very first class at Sunderland Elementary, graduated from Northern High School, and spent my summers cutting tobacco at Swann Farms. After earning my degree from the University of Maryland, I came home and built Scaggs Site Development, an excavating and infrastructure business, from the ground up.

My wife and I are raising our family right here in Calvert; our oldest will be a Northern High senior this year. When we’re not at a youth football game, you’ll find us hunting, fishing the Patuxent, or out on the water for the White Marlin Open.

I’m running for Commissioner At Large because Calvert deserves leadership that’s accountable to its residents, willing to ask the tough questions, and unafraid to stand up for the people who actually live here. I’m unapologetically conservative, and I live it every day, not just at election time: smaller government, lower taxes, less regulation, and more freedom.

Smaller government

Less red tape and fewer mandates, more freedom for families and small business.

Lower taxes

Respect for the people who actually fund the county.

Accountable

Ask the tough questions and answer to residents, not insiders.

Rural character

Protect the Calvert we grew up in from overcrowding and overreach.

Chip in

Calvert County is worth fighting for Pitch in.

A county race is won on the ground, yard signs and neighbors talking to neighbors. Every dollar funds that work.
